SAP BW is like a data warehouse with several pre-delivered operational data stores (ODS); a star schema data model called InfoCubes. The tool is set with pre-developed extract, transform and load (ETL) programs and had a model-driven approach to EDWs.
Addition to which it has a Query Designer known as Bex (Business Explorer) QD and Bex Query Analyser (An excel plugin ) to view the reports. This entire framework was called SAP BI. It had good integration with other SAP products like NW portals.
